Why focus on Women?
- At 50% of the population, women are the largest underrepresented group
- Women are themselves diverse (in ethnicity, sexual orientation, thinking style etc) and so opening the space for women opens the space for diversity in general
- Research shows that companies with a greater proportion of female leaders outperform the industry mean
Why 5:1 Group Mentoring rather than 1:1 Mentoring?
- Women typically thrive in group-learning contexts, and derive ongoing insights from the peer relationships that are developed in this programme
- The 5:1 ratio maximises the impact of each mentor, and delivers enough scale to the programme to drive meaningful cultural change
Why are there some male mentors?
- Research shows that initiatives aimed at enhancing diversity are three times more impactful when men are involved, especially male leaders in the business
How is this different from other leadership programmes?
- It is more experiential: There is plenty of stimulating material, and topic-based workshops, but ultimately the most crucial learning element is discussions with your peers and mentor
- It is longitudinal: A year-long programme allows you to build relationships, confidence and a genuine understanding of your strengths – and to use these resources to make concrete plans for advancing your career
Beyond it being the right thing to do, why would a company fund this?
- Our research shows that participants are more likely to stay with the organisation, build productive relationships, grow wellbeing, and advance in their careers
How are mentors Matched to mentees?
- Alongside ensuring there are diverse perspectives from across the organisation, matching is based on shared values and strengths – you will recognise a shared ‘chemistry’ right from the start
Will our Mentors be trained?
- Yes, they will receive training and support throughout the programme
